The eighty-fourth session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management will take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva from 4 to 6 October 2023. The eighty-fourth session of the Committee will support regional exchange of experiences and good practices on promoting affordable, adequate and climate-neutral housing and inclusive, circular, smart and sustainable cities.

6 (d) Activities of the network of the Geneva UN Charter Centres for
Sustainable Housing and Smart Sustainable Cities focusing on future
challenges of housing affordability in the ECE Region This interactive moderated panel discussion is organized by the network of
the Geneva UN Charter Centres for Sustainable Housing and Smart
Sustainable Cities1 in cooperation with the Real Estate Market Advisory
Group for Sustainable, Climate-Neutral and Energy-Efficient Buildings and
Cities (REM). Anticipating future housing challenges involves considering a range of
factors, including population growth, urbanization trends, economic, social
and environmental conditions, and technological advancements. The panel
is aimed at improving knowledge base and supporting foresight for
affordable decent housing in the UNECE region. It will support developing
joint activities between the centres of excellence in the future.
Introduction by the moderator Peter Bille Larsen, Senior Lecturer, University
of Geneva. It will be followed by a panel discussion.
