General Assembly: Joint briefing by the Presidents…

The joint briefing responds to General Assembly Resolutions 73/341 of 12 September 2019, 74/303 of 4 September 2020, and 75/325 of 15 September 2021, entitled “Revitalization of the work of the General Assembly”, and related efforts to revitalize the work of the General Assembly and strengthen the Economic and Social Council.

At the briefing, the Presidents provided an update on ongoing efforts to ensure coherence, synergy and complementarity in the work of the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council, while also highlighting commonalities and interlinkages across their respective vision statements and common priorities.

The briefing addressed their shared views on the international situation and the forthcoming work and priorities of the General Assembly and ECOSOC; their upcoming joint events; the contribution of their respective bodies to impactful, inclusive, and efficient multilateralism; financing for development: and countries in special situations.

The joint briefing also provided an opportunity for Member States to exchange views and perspectives in relation to the work and cooperation of these two United Nations Charter bodies.
