The gap in understanding of how and where to maximise biodiversity and climate synergies is delaying urgently needed protection of high integrity, carbon-dense ecosystems such as primary forests. It is also delaying action to support Indigenous peoples and their rights, as they play an essential role in protecting high integrity ecosystems around the world.

We are therefore missing one of the most holistic, rapid, and cost effective opportunities to address multiple crises together in an integrated and mutually reinforcing manner. This press panel will explain the policy changes that need to happen, including at COP16 so that we can shift finance to support bio-cultural integrity around the world.
