1 / 2 Summary:
Step into the future with the UN-hosted Complex Risk Analytics Fund, the Early Warnings for All initiative and Gzero Media at the 78th United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
As we navigate an era of multifaceted global crises – amplified by climate change – recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI), technologies, and data ecosystems create transformative opportunities to tackle these challenges. Together with global leaders and change-makers, we envisage a world where global partners unlock the potential of data, analytics, and AI to better anticipate crises and pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient future.
The climate crisis looms large, affecting at least 3.3 billion people directly. In 2023 alone, almost 340 million individuals need emergency support globally, over 100 million are displaced in search of sustainable refuge, and the shadow of hunger extends to more than 230 million people. Faced with these realities, our mission is clear: How can we harness the power of technological breakthroughs to shape a more resilient and hopeful tomorrow? By unlocking the full potential of data, analytics, and AI, global partners can warn, and reach populations affected by disasters and crises earlier, faster, in a more targeted and dignified way.
With a focus on leaving no one behind in the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, our discussions will weave in the broader fabric of global initiatives. This includes the Secretary-General's Our Common Agenda, the Global Digital Compact, UN 2.0 – Quintet of Change, the Early Warnings for All initiative and the Global Climate Action Agenda. The live broadcast will underscore how innovative data-driven approaches are pivotal in enhancing the collective efforts for a more resilient world.
