SDG 9 INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE…

The round table is dedicated to the topics of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Innovation-enhancing Procurement (IEP), as well as Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and automated driving.

Innovation and PPPs are powerful drivers of industrialization, economic growth, and sustainable development. Governments hold the key to unlocking this potential through public procurement, a catalyst for both innovation and PPPs. Furthermore, the UNECE region has made significant investments in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and vehicle automation as innovations to improve road safety, transport efficiency and sustainability. These technologies are key enablers of innovative transport infrastructure, which is central to achieving SDG 9. However, deployment remains uneven, and various challenges remain.

The session will explore policy experiences with IEP and PPPs and provide an opportunity to share experiences and lessons learned on ITS and automated driving and identify barriers to deployment.
