The General Assembly must regularly examine itself, including its role and working methods, to ensure it is fit-for-purpose and capable of responding effectively, thoughtfully, and meaningfully to the most urgent global challenges. This meeting is to adopt the report of the Working Group.

The General Assembly remains the chief deliberative, policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations, as well as the world's premier multilateral forum. As the President of the General Assembly has observed, a stronger United Nations requires a stronger General Assembly.
