Sand and gravels are the hidden foundation to our society, and represent the largest volume of solid material extracted globally. Sand demand has tripled over the last two decades, and is expected to keep growing due to growing populations, shifting consumption patterns, urbanization etc., leading to major social and environmental consequences. In this report being launched, new solutions are proposed for its environmental governance.
