Description

The Government of France, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) are hosting the Fin4Dev Dialogue: "Scaling Local Currency Financing to Strengthen Resilience in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies: Experiences and Opportunities", which will be taking place on the margins of the 2026 ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development (FfD Forum) and featured in the official FfD Week programme.

This event takes place at a very important moment, given the growing momentum across multilateral forums - including at the FfD4 Conference held last July in Seville, both within the official programme and through the International Business Forum held in parallel - through the Seville Commitment, combined with the focus of the Forum and the SDG Investment Fair on advancing actionable solutions for mobilising sustainable finance and strengthening resilience in developing economies.

This high-level roundtable will underscore the catalytic role of local currency financing to strengthen debt sustainability, domestic resource mobilisation, and broader MDB-DFI reform efforts. Participants will examine the value added by the various initiatives and activities underway, reflect on lessons emerging from implementation, and consider how this agenda can be scaled to achieve greater impact.

The roundtable will be moderated by William Roos, Managing Director, Corporate Strategy, EBRD, and will bring together senior representatives from multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, central banks, ministries of finance and foreign affairs, local commercial banks, and other organisations.
