The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) will be hosting the 2023 UNSC Election Briefing Series for non-contested seats, as well as moderated debates for competing candidates.
Description
The Briefing with the non-contested candidates, including Algeria and Sierra Leone from the African Group, the Republic of Korea from the Asia-Pacific Group, and Guyana from the Latin American and Caribbean Group will be held on Monday, 15th May 2023, at UNHQ in New York in Conference Room 2 from 10:30am until 12:30pm. The Election Debate for the contested candidates from the Eastern European Group, Belarus and Slovenia, will take place Tuesday, 16th May 2023, at UNHQ in New York in the ECOSOC Chamber from 10:30am until 12:30pm.

The Briefing Series will be an opportunity for Ambassadors to share priority issues and concerns, going into term with colleagues and the wider United Nations community. The event will be open to all Member States, Non-Member Observer States, UN Agencies, UN-affiliated Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders, and will be webcast for participation from a wider global audience.
