It will be a "passing of the baton" opportunity, with a look at the foundational work done by member states and disability organizations on accessibility and disability inclusion, to the new and innovative approaches emerging within the youth disability community today. The discussion will aim to foster a renewal of leadership and sharing of ideas on how the UN, governments and the disability community can support youth leadership.
This side event will also recognize and pay tribute to the ground-breaking work of Steven Estey, a Canadian disability advocate well known for his vital work in advancing the rights of persons with disabilities.
