From Commitment to Action: Ensuring Sustainable Action to End Violence Against Children
2024 offers important opportunities to accelerate progress to end violence against children. The recently adopted Pact for the Future opens the door to new opportunities for collective action. The first global ministerial conference on ending violence against children on 7-8 November 2024 will also provide a key opportunity to reinvigorate global action and maximize positive change for children. In addition, this year marks the 35th anniversary of Convention on the Rights of the Child, the 25th anniversary of World Childhood Foundation, and the 15th anniversary of establishment of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children.
Building on these important events and milestones, the objectives of the event are to:
- Share outcomes of the first global ministerial conference on ending violence against children and identify key actions to ensure effective follow-up.
- Highlight examples of effective, integrated approaches to tackling violence against children that can be implemented at scale.
- Highlight how follow-up and monitoring of outcomes of the first global ministerial conference on ending violence against children connects with and incorporates other global commitments.
