Peace Innovation Roundtable

On October 24th, UPEACE will present this publication and facilitate a roundtable discussion on defining peace innovation, its community and its capacity, building a peace innovation research agenda, and concretizing the next steps to create a stronger commitment to peace innovation, both within and outside the United Nations. Importantly, a Peace Innovation agenda attempts to shift the focus on the future of peace from technology-centered to people-centered. Where innovating for peace means placing digital technologies into the context of people's lived experiences, their needs, their ingenuity and their selfdetermination. A focus on innovating the work, the education and the skills of peace to meet the needs of our current unstable global moment and future means bringing in a diverse range of stakeholders to reimagine peacebuilding collectively, where technologies are understood as critical assets alongside other assets such as political will, the affordances of the natural world, and a shared commitment to non-violence, physically and systemically.
