We are witnessing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis in every continent and region. The efforts of governments and business have been insufficient so far, but we can't give up. The world still has a narrow window to stay within the 1.5C limit of the Paris agreement, to avoid dangerous tipping points and secure a livable planet.
The good news is that the tools to address the climate crisis already exist. What we need is the will to act. We must cut carbon pollution and end the merciless war on nature in order to protect lives and livelihoods. The conversations will identify the gaps, highlight solutions, and stress what needs to be done next.
THE WORLD NEEDS A HALFTIME TALK
The UN Office for Partnerships is working with Project Everyone, a not-for-profit communications agency co-founded by SDG Advocate and the screenwriter Richard Curtis, in collaboration with artist Es Devlin, to create the SDG Pavilion, a unique convening space and art installation.
We will come together at the United Nations General Assembly from 15–22 September 2023 for the SDG Summit and a full week of Halftime Talks in the SDG Pavilion to accelerate action for people for planet.
The SDG Pavilion will host a series of Halftime Talks about mobilizing the world to keep the promise of the SDGs.
