Description
Globally, autism is estimated to affect 70 million people as of 2018. It occurs four to five times more often in boys than girls. While the Autism prevalence figures are growing, there is no medical detection or cure for autism up to this moment. The event aims to enhance acceptance and understanding individuals and families affected by autism and other developmental disorders in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. A panel of experts, including representatives of WHO and UNICEF and families, will share and explore opportunities for progress for the global autism and developmental disabilities communities in the context of the Nurturing Care Framework, including promising programs that enhances responsive caregiving such as the World Health Organization's Caregiver Needs Training program.
