Discussion on "Climate Insecurity Impacts on Children and Armed Conflict" (co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Andorra and the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (OSRSG-CAAC) and co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of Mozambique and Switzerland)
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (SRSG CAAC) and the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Andorra to the United Nations with the co-sponsorship of the Permanent Missions of Mozambique and Switzerland to the United Nations are hosting a high-level event to facilitate a cross-regional discussion on the impact of climate insecurity on children affected by armed conflict. This occasion will include a launch of a discussion paper on the topic that has been developed by the Office of the SRSG CAAC in consultation with Country Task Forces on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMRs) in selected situations on the CAAC agenda, as well as experts working at the intersection of climate insecurity and child protection. The research presented at this event will situate CAAC against the growing Climate, Peace, and Security Agenda of the UN Security Council in recent years and will provide Member States, UN entities and Civil Society Organizations the opportunity to discuss cross-regional perspectives on the impact of climate insecurity on children living in conflict-affected situations as well as assist in outlining steps for integrating CAAC into the Climate, Peace, and Security discussion.
