2018 Global Commission Report Launch at the United Nations
5 Sep 2018 -  United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres joins Global Commissioners Felipe Calderón, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Nick Stern at the launch of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate’s 2018 Report, hosted at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Report finds that bold climate action could deliver US$26 trillion in economic benefits to 2030.
The Global Commission’s 2018 Report identifies the major opportunities to rapidly accelerate action toward this new growth model in five economic sectors – energy, cities, food and land use, water, and industry. It documents the real economic benefits, the prospects for better jobs, for reduced air pollution, reduced GHG emissions and enhanced resilience, and the business and investment opportunities that are at the heart of this new growth model. It also makes the case that, in order to realise these opportunities, the broader financial system needs to adjust to the realities of building a sustainable, low-carbon future.
The launch event will take place on Wednesday 5th September at 3pm EST with a formal handover of the Report to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in support of the UN agenda and the upcoming 2019 Climate Summit.
