"Risk Reduction Hub" on the margins of the High-Level Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction - 5 back to back sessions in Conference Room 6

The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is coordinating a Risk Reduction Hub on the margins of the official sessions of the high-level meeting on the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (HLM MTR SF) to include an array of side events and thematic engagements of various formats in order to discuss advancing risk reduction efforts across sectors, regions, and contexts.

20th meeting, Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations - 2023 resumed session, Economic and Social Council

The 2023 resumed session on the Committee on NGOs will take place on 15 to 23 May 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Committee will meet again on 5 June 2023 to adopt its report of the session.

Human Mobility in the Context of Disasters

Displacement is one of the main ways in which disasters affect people and is exacerbated by the adverse impacts of climate change. Between 2012-2021, an average of 23 million persons were displaced by disasters annually. In the years to come these figures are anticipated to continue to expand as more vulnerable people will face more severe and frequent hazards in the context of climate change. A whole-of-society approach is required to meaningfully address this reality.
