Despite progress made, the overall security situation in the Great Lakes region remains fragile, the pockets of instability and violence still standing in the way of durable peace. Since November 2021, and even more the end of March 2022, the security situation in the eastern parts of the DRC has deteriorated due to the resurgence of activities by the Mouvement du 23 mars (M23).
