Report of the Secretary-General on South Sudan (covering the period from 2 September to 30 November 2018) (S/2018/1103)
The agenda was adopted without objection.
The President invited the representative of South Sudan to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure.
The President invited the following briefers to participate in the meeting in accordance with rule 39 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure: Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations; and Ms. Pramila Patten, Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The Council began its consideration of the item and heard briefings by Mr. Lacroix, Ms. Patten (via video-teleconference from London) and by Ambassador Joanna Wronecka, Permanent Representative of Poland in her capacity as the Chair of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2206 (2015) concerning South Sudan.
Statements were made by the representatives of the United States, Ethiopia, France, Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, Peru, Poland, Equatorial Guinea, the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Netherlands, Kuwait, China, Sweden, the Russian Federation and by the President, speaking in his capacity as the representative of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Council heard a statement by the representative of South Sudan.
