Bankrupting the Business of Human Trafficking - 101
1 Dec 2020 -  Forced labour and human trafficking are horrific crimes netting $150 billion annually in illicit profits, which, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO), victimizes “an estimated 40.3 million people, including 24.9 million in forced labour and 15.4 million in forced marriage. 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children.”
Simple economics: Even if every victim were rescued today, tomorrow there would unfortunately be a new set of victims in place, as the current demand provides a ready-made economy for traffickers.
Panelists will discuss how focusing on the demand for this $150 billion industry is helping to stop forced labour and trafficking.
