The role of Memorials in Preserving History
28 Mar 2019 -  This event, entitled “The role of memorials in preserving history”, is part of the 2019 activities being held to mark the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
It is being organized by the United Nations Department of Global Communications’ Education Outreach Section in partnership with the NGO Relations and Advocacy Section.
It will discuss how best to preserve, promote and manage sites of memory. Speakers include representatives of three slavery memorials and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as a youth representative.
