UN Secretary-General António Guterres will speak to reporters on the climate crisis at the Security Council Stakeout following his recent travel to Chile and Antarctica.   

Beyond doing everything to cut emissions and slow the pace of global warming, we must adapt and build resilience to the effects of climate change. However, current adaptation efforts are far behind what is needed to protect lives and livelihoods from the worsening climate impacts.

Ahead of the UN Secretary-General's Climate Ambition Summit, the session will explore big picture climate issues, along with a focus on the climate and gender nexus with a special preview of CNN's new digital photo initiative, As Equals.

The side event will highlight the critical role played by South-South and Triangular Cooperation mechanisms in transferring technology and building sustainable capacity to ensure access to energy and clean water for all.
