This high-level thematic debate aims to take stock of the gaps and bottlenecks in achieving debt sustainability and the implications for the most vulnerable, particularly in developing countries. The sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 11  to 22 March 2024 under the theme "Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective". Review theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

For over two decades, the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda has stressed the importance of women's leadership and their empowerment to achieve and sustain peace. Gender equality in decision-making is also a human rights imperative, a democratic imperative and a key element of sustainable development.

The High-Level Event aims to promote dialogue and exchange of ideas among women leaders of government entities on financing for gender equality as a strategy for poverty eradication, inequalities and institutional and democratic strengthening.
