UN struggles to cope with thousands of daily arrivals in South Sudan transit camps
South Sudan, one of the world's poorest countries, is dealing with the influx of hundreds of thousands of refugees from its northern neighbor, Sudan, which has been in the grip of a major conflict between the government and the Rapid Support Forces since April of last year. At the UN-run transit centers in Renk, staff are helping people to travel onwards to their final destinations in the hope of avoiding large numbers staying in this extremely remote, poorly resourced part of the country.

In Iraq, UN Chief praises repatriation of refugees from Al-Hol camp
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres visited a refugee camp in Iraq housing displaced persons repatriated from the Al-Hol camp in Syria, which he called "the worst in the world." The Secretary-General praised Iraq's repatriation efforts and called on all countries to act on this example and help the struggling refugees in Al-Hol.
