Description

UN Women will continue to push for systematic and sustainable engagement of adolescent girls and youth in intergovernmental processes. It will convene an annual CSW Youth Forum, led by young people with the support of UN Women, as a pivotal event in engaging young people in the Commission. The Forum will take place in New York at the UN Secretariat for the opening on 15th of March, followed by two days at the United Nations International School on the 16th and 17th of March 2024.

The Forum will provide a dynamic and interactive space that enables young participants to engage directly with policymakers, articulate their ideas, and foreground their priorities, especially regarding methods of ensuring accountability.

Objectives of the Youth Forum:

  • Knowledge development through various interactive sessions, panels, and workshops sessions where participants critically examine the impacts of current socio-economic crises on women and girls and commit to a set of recommendations for strengthening accountability mechanisms.
  • Leadership activation by supporting attendees to articulate specific demands for institutional transformation and to finalize a declaration of commitments for advocating gender-responsive reforms in public institutions.
  • Networking and alliance building that result in strengthened partnerships amongst young people with a focus on addressing gender, age, and poverty-related challenges.
  • Strategic planning for the Global Youth and Adolescent Recommendations, the Summit of the Future, and Beijing+30.
