Description
The United Nations association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-RD) along with Globalmuners organization will be celebrating the New York Model United Nations Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean (NYMUNLAC 2018). UNA-DR and Globalmuners are non-profit, non-governmental organizations dedicated to supporting and promoting the work of the United Nations. These organizations contribute to the strengthening of the U.N. mission by coordinating educational and cultural activities, which seek to raise public awareness and encourage citizen and youths participation. More than 60,000 Dominican and international students have participated in their programs and initiatives. In 2009, UNA-DR affiliated to the Department of Public Information of the United Nations (DPI) and on July 2011, obtained consultative status before the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). For the last 12 years, the UNA-DR organized the New York – Dominican Republic Model United Nations Conference (NYDRMUN) offering an exceptional platform for the Dominican youth to learn about global issues and get engaged on the discussion of the public local, national and global agenda.  The Mexican NGO Globalmuners has joined the alliance to promote the participation of young people from Mexico and other countries of the region.  In pursuance of this vision, NYDRMUN has evolved into NYMUNLAC. NYMUNLAC 2018 will be gathering point for over 400 students from elementary school, high school and college, whom will be debating themes extracted directly from the United Nations agenda. The encounter will be held from 01 to 05 April 2018, at the Grand Hyatt New York Hotel and the United Nations General Assembly Hall.  The closing ceremony will be held on April 4, 2018, from 6:30p.m. to 10:00p.m. at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations.
