The second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation,
occurring some 40 years after the adoption of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action, will
give the international community the opportunity to review trends, assess progress to
date in furthering development, review lessons learned in South -South and triangular
cooperation and identify new opportunities offered by those modalities of cooperation
to achieve the 2030 Agenda and other internationally agreed development goals.
South-South cooperation is a broad framework for collaboration among countries of the South in the political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and technical domains. It is managed by developing countries themselves, with active participation from Governments, public and private sector actors, academia and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) among others.
