Description
In São Paulo, the Free & Equal campaign — a UN initiative for LGBTI equality — launched in June the Standards of Conduct for Business. Through five basic principles, the United Nations calls on companies to tackle discrimination among their staff and to engage suppliers and partners in the promotion of LGBTI people's human rights. The recommendations also encourage the corporate sector to raise awareness among consumers so that the respect for diversity becomes a reality in all society. With the participation of Brazilian singer and UN Equality Champion Liniker, the launch event in Brazil gathered activists, corporate leaders and representatives of the UN and diplomatic missions. Participants reflected on strategies to fight prejudice and ensure inclusion in the job market.
