The panel considers the democracy that existed before the Nazis came to power, and the extent to which the legal framework in place contributed to the rise of the Nazis, and the collapse of the Weimar Republic. The discussion is organized by the United Nations Department of Global Communications in partnership with the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (IJL), and co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of Germany and Israel to the United Nations.
